So how did I get into personal training? Well after 20 years of “working out” I found myself overweight and out of shape. How’d that happen???!!!
Simple. I wasn’t eating right, didn’t make enough time to take care of myself, and didn’t really know how to create balanced workouts.
I spent most of my career in electronics manufacturing. It’s a tough life. Lots of stress, too many hours, etc. When it came time to make a career change I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time for myself and I saw the light. I started eating differently and changing up my exercise routine. And guess what…..I lost weight and felt great!
When it came time to re-enter the working world I just couldn’t see going back to that life and undoing everything that I had accomplished. Several people suggested getting into personal training. Intriguing. So I signed up for one of the certifications to see what it was all about.
I soon discovered that it was the path for me. Not only did I learn more about how to take care of myself, but I saw the potential for helping others. But I never imagined just how rewarding it would be. As I started taking on clients it became obvious that there was more to it than sticking a dumbbell in their hand and counting reps.
These days my main priority is to simply be a positive influence on my client’s lives. To me that means coaching them up when they’re feeling down, not being judgmental when they start to waiver, and generally giving them the tools that they need in order to be successful!
It has been an amazing journey so far. At this point I think that my clients have enriched my life just as much as I hope that I’ve enriched theirs.
So come with me and let’s do it together!
